YOUNG ATHLETES WILL LEARN SKILLS FROM THE FOLLOWING PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL PLAYERS AND COACHES

 

John Elliott - John graduated high school in 1982 from Fountain Valley High. He then went on to Long Beach City College for two years. He was all-League, 2nd team as a freshman at LBCC. He set a school record in hitting in his first year. His sophomore year at LBCC he was 1st team All-League, and that year was drafted in the 4th round by the Houston Astros. He played with the Astros Organization from 1984 thru 1988. He played five years as a shortstop and second baseman. He was an All-star in 1986 in the Sally League. He played all the way thru AA. He then went on to further his education in Physical Education with a Bachelor of Science. John also has a Masters in Physical Education and many training certificates.

In 1995 John founded the Quakes Baseball Academy. He has been coaching the QBA travel teams for over 19 years. He has trained high school to professional athletes in his baseball facility. John was an associate scout for the Houston Astros from 1995 to 2009. In October of 2009 he started scouting for the Baltimore Orioles. He has designed many training programs for baseball players to enhance their existing skills as well as to advance their knowledge of their game and their abilities. John has assisted in the design and production of two hitting videos with batspeed.com. These videos are utilized by baseball players throughout the nation. He also does in-house training on the BATSPEED technique.

Josh Emmerick - Drafted in 1999 as a catcher by the Montreal Expos.  He also played for the Washington Nationals and the San Francisco Giants.  After leaving pro ball became a scout for the Colorado Rockies for two years and is now a Pro Area Scout the San Diego Padres

Kyle Higashioka - Graduated from Edison High School in 2008.  Drafted as a catcher by the New York Yankees and continues to play for the Yankees, in their minor league system.

Kurt Heyer - Graduated from Edison High School in 2009.  Attending University of Arizona for three years and was their Friday Night starter for three years as well as All Pac-10.  Kurt led their pitching staff to the 2012 College National Championship where they claimed another VICTORY!  He was drafted as a pitcher out of college by the St. Louis Cardinals.

Ryan Torrey - Ryan attended Newport Harbor High School where he was a 3-year Varsity Letterman. Ryan then attended and graduated from Concordia University in Irvine with a degree in Exercise Sports.  While at Concordia he played baseball and went to three regional championships and one World Series.  Ryan also played in Hawaii Collegiate Baseball League in 2008.  In 2009 he started coaching for Santa Margarita Catholic HS where he is currently coaching, as well as assisting at Quakes Baseball. 

Steven McMichael - Steven graduated from Capistrano Valley High School in 2009, where he was a two-year Varsity letterman.  As a senior he helped lead his team to the South Coast League Championship and a CIF D1 Championship.  Steven was awarded First Team All-League, First Team All-County, First Team All-CIF and was a four-year scholar athlete.  Steven attended Orange Coast College where he played outfield for the Pirates in 2010 and 2011.  From there he attended and graduated from Concordia University in Irvine with a degree in Business Admin with a concentration in Sports Management.  While at Concordia he played baseball for his final two years and his team made it all the way to the Regional Tournament both years.  Steven has been an assistant coach for Quakes Baseball Academy for two years.  He is now the Head Freshman Coach at Aliso Niguel High School. 

This camp will be very instructional in nature.  The coaches will cover a lot of material in a short amount of time.  We want all participants to be ready and eager to work on all of their skills and ready to learn from the best!
